Systems, not templates

We build the systems
your <business> runs on.

Phillips WDC is an engineering company for businesses that have outgrown off-the-shelf solutions. We design and build websites, ecommerce platforms, integrations, APIs, automation, and the systems that connect them.

From ecommerce and CRM to payments, fulfillment, subscriptions, and complex data flows — we make the pieces work together.

TL;DR

Phillips WDC is a software engineering company. We design and build websites, ecommerce platforms, APIs, integrations, and internal tools for businesses with problems that off-the-shelf software can't solve.

We work across the entire stack — from what your customers see to the systems, data, and automation behind it. We work within your existing technology when it makes sense, build custom solutions when it doesn't, and leave you with software your team can actually own and maintain.

What we build

From the website to the
systems behind it.

We build across the entire stack — customer-facing experiences, ecommerce, APIs, integrations, data, and the internal systems that keep a business running.

01

Websites & ecommerce

Websites built as part of the system, not separate from it. From custom WordPress and WooCommerce to Shopify and complex ecommerce, we build the customer experience and connect it to everything behind it.

  • Custom websites & applications
  • Shopify & WooCommerce development
  • Custom themes & functionality
  • Ecommerce architecture & migrations
02

Backend systems & APIs

Custom services that handle the business logic off-the-shelf platforms can't. Designed to be secure, observable, maintainable, and built around how your business actually works.

  • REST & GraphQL API design
  • Authentication & authorization
  • Event-driven services & webhooks
  • Business logic & workflow engines
03

Integrations

We connect the platforms your business depends on and handle everything that happens when those systems don't agree.

  • CRM & ecommerce integrations
  • Payments, subscriptions & billing
  • Fulfillment, warehouse & ERP systems
  • Third-party APIs & legacy systems
04

Data & automation

Move data where it needs to go, make it useful when it gets there, and eliminate repetitive work that shouldn't require a person.

  • Data pipelines & synchronization
  • ETL, migrations & transformation
  • Reporting & operational data
  • Workflow & process automation
05

Internal tools

Sometimes the software your employees use matters just as much as what your customers see. We build tools around the way your team actually works.

  • Operations & admin dashboards
  • Order & customer management
  • Workflow & approval systems
  • Reporting & business tooling
06

Platform engineering

Existing systems don't always need to be replaced. We audit, repair, modernize, migrate, and improve the software your business already depends on.

  • Architecture & codebase audits
  • Performance & reliability
  • Legacy system modernization
  • Platform & data migrations

Projects, with the parts
that were actually hard.

The interesting part isn't what shipped. It's what had to work together to make it possible.

Ecommerce migration25K+ customers
~100K orders

Moving an established ecommerce business without leaving its history behind

Moving from WooCommerce to Shopify wasn't just a storefront migration. Years of customers, orders, pricing relationships, subscriptions, payments, and operational data had to move with it — while preserving the relationships between them.

We built the migration and integration tooling around the business instead of forcing the business into the limitations of an import.

Multi-system

Turning a CRM into an operational commerce workspace

Customer service already worked in HubSpot. Making them jump between systems to place and manage orders didn't make sense.

We built the commerce workflow directly into HubSpot, connecting customer records to products, pricing, payments, orders, and fulfillment while keeping Shopify as the commerce system of record.

SubscriptionsRecurring orders

Migrating recurring orders without starting over

Subscriptions are more than a schedule. Customer identity, payment methods, products, timing, notifications, and future orders all have to stay connected.

We engineered the migration and integration around those relationships, allowing existing customers and payment methods to carry forward while recurring orders became part of the new commerce platform.

Bi-directional data

Making the pieces work together

Commerce rarely lives in one system. Customer data starts in one place, orders in another, payments somewhere else, fulfillment somewhere else again — and every system has its own idea of the truth.

We engineered the integration layer connecting commerce, CRM, payments, subscriptions, fulfillment, and customer relationships so data could move between systems without turning manual reconciliation into part of the business process.

How we work

Stay close.
Keep it simple.

You work directly with the people building your software. You have access to the work, know where the project stands, and understand the decisions being made along the way. No layers of account management between you and the engineering.

Understand the problem

Before we start building, we learn how your business works, what you already have, and where the real problem is. Existing code, systems, data, workflows, and constraints all matter.

Design the right solution

We don't start with a preferred platform or force every problem into the same stack. We use what already works, replace what doesn't, and design around what the business actually needs.

Build in the open

You have access to the work from the beginning and communicate directly with the engineer building it. We test as we go, show progress early, and adjust when we learn something new.

Leave you in control

The code, documentation, architecture, and knowledge belong with your team. We build things to be understood and maintained — whether we're still working with you five years from now or not.

Fit

We're not right
for everything.

The best projects are the ones where engineering can make a meaningful difference.

Good fit

  • You need a website or ecommerce platform that goes beyond the standard template
  • Your systems need to share data, automate work, or operate as one platform
  • You have an existing platform that needs to be improved, migrated, or untangled
  • The problem requires engineering judgment, not just more hands on tickets
  • You want a technical partner who can understand the business problem and build around it

Not a fit

  • You're looking for the lowest-cost way to get something online
  • You need someone to execute a specification without questioning whether it's the right solution
  • Price is the only factor in choosing who builds it
  • You need additional developers to close tickets without involvement in the larger solution
  • You want a fixed answer before we've had a chance to understand the problem
Tools

The stack serves
the problem.

We have tools we know well, but we're not tied to a single platform or stack. We work with the technology you already have when it makes sense and choose something different when it doesn't.
